JBL PartyBox Club 120 vs Stage 320: which should you choose?

Choosing a PartyBox is about more than power. You have to carry it out of the house, load it into a car, position it at the venue and sometimes take it upstairs. Club 120 and Stage 320 differ in these everyday details. Start with the route and event duration, then compare wattage.

Wattage does not tell you how many guests will hear the music

Stage 320 has a higher rated output, but 240 versus 160 W does not mean it is 50% louder or specify a guest count. Audibility depends on distance, ambient noise, the room and where people stand. An outdoor venue does not have the same reflections as an indoor room.

Background music at a table and music for dancing have different requirements. If a host will use a microphone, check speech clarity at the intended music level beforehand. Avoid choosing based on a promise of universal coverage.

Transport: wheels do not help everywhere

Stage 320 is convenient to roll on a smooth path, but you still have to lift its 16.5 kg on stairs. Club 120 is smaller and lighter, although 11.05 kg is hardly the weight of a casual walking speaker. Measure your boot space and decide who will load it.

Compact size can be decisive in a flat without a lift. At a venue with easy vehicle access, Stage 320’s wheels and telescopic handle offer more benefit. Leave room for cables and a microphone too.

Battery life for a long party

JBL quotes up to 12 hours for Club 120 and up to 18 for Stage 320. These are not guaranteed runtimes at maximum volume: playback conditions affect the result. If music must continue without interruption, plan access to mains power or a compatible spare battery.

The batteries are replaceable, but do not assume an extra battery is included in a standard purchase. Check compatibility with the exact model, not simply the PartyBox name. IPX4 protects against splashes, not immersion.

Karaoke, lighting and connections

Both models support microphone and guitar use, offer lighting effects and work with the JBL PartyBox app. Having an input does not mean a microphone is included. For a karaoke setup, check the package contents and how your chosen microphone connects.

Rehearse briefly before the event: music, voice, level adjustment and microphone position relative to the speaker. This is better than trying it for the first time in front of guests. For everyday walks, this format is excessive; compare the compact Charge or Flip instead.

Frequently asked questions

Is Stage 320 50% louder than Club 120?

You cannot draw that conclusion from the 240 W and 160 W power ratings.

Is a microphone included?

Do not assume so. Check the contents of the specific product or bundle.

Can it be used in heavy rain?

IPX4 does not make it an all-weather installation. Protect equipment and connections from water as instructed in the manual.
